or a hardware box to function like a PSTN switch.
call switching is a basic function of a complete phone system.
as a complete phone system, headcall has its version of a switch facility
in the form of a software embedded as part of the headcall voip system in
a computer or a stand-alone box.
a headcall soft switch forwards a call to a desired callee in accordance
to the caller's number, the callee's number, the caller's IP address or
a number entered by the caller. working modes defined and currently implemented
in headcall soft switch include:
- [callcenter] automatically forwarding a call to an idle seat
- [virtual exchange] simulating a PBX to forward a call to appropriate extension or virtual extension.
- [voice navigator] forwarding a call according to step-by-step voice prompts.
- [callee number] forwarding a call according to the callee's PSTN number for use in telecom gateway service.
- [caller number] forwarding a call according to the caller's number for possible use in telecom gateway service.
- [caller IP] forwarding a call according to the caller's IP address for use in emergency services such as 911.
in addition to the currently available function-modes, more will be developed in response to market needs.
